Went to the Salihara Gallery to see the 125,660 SPECIMENS OF NATURAL HISTORY and there was a time when I was alone and being in that room filled with zoological specimens made me shiver and i felt a weird sensation crawled through my spine
Don’t get me wrong, it’s an enticing exhibition, but seeing those specimens was like a portrait of how human being tries to understand their existence by conquering and preserving nature, while still carrying questions in our heads and struggling with all damage we do.
Sounds a little morbid, I know.

After reading the article about how Costa Rica is going to release all of its zoo animals to the nature, I pondered a bit. What are we trying to conserve anyway? All this time, it's been always about us.
Yeah, it's always been about us - about marking our territory. It's also one of the things that Ghibli's Pom Poko tried to say or criticize - that sometimes, although we don't have the intentions to "destroy" nature or evict animals from their territories..from their homes, we do that anyway. Maybe subconsciously, we thought we have the right to, because we're the noblest creatures in this planet..
